​I never thought I'd live in a country with wide open skies, where wild exotic birds of different colours flew freely.  Or where kangaroos came out in droves at sunset to party on the lawns of houses.  Before I moved to Australia, parrots, cockatoos, pelicans, kangaroos, koalas, quokkas and wombats were only found in zoos.
